How the World Became Ching Chia’s Classroom

In a world driven by deadlines and deliverables, it’s easy to forget how vital it is to simply stay curious. But for Ching Chia, VP of SchGo Engineered Products, curiosity isn’t just a personal passion – it’s a business advantage. At SchGo, we believe that travel fuels creativity, sparking fresh ideas, new perspectives, and powerful connections.

As a leader, Ching wears many hats: strategist, problem-solver, team builder. But behind her sharp financial sense and operational know-how is a lifelong learner who believes that stepping outside your comfort zone, especially through travel, is one of the most powerful ways to grow. For Ching, travel is more than an escape. It’s a catalyst for clarity, creativity, and unexpected connection.

Learning Through Experience – and Sharing It

Ching’s approach to leadership is shaped by a deep appreciation for new experiences. Over the years, she’s made it a priority to explore new places, whether traveling with her daughters or visiting global partners in Asia. Each journey, she says, offers a lesson in patience, adaptability, and perspective.

Her daughter Felicia, for example, experienced a major shift after a trip to China for basketball camp and the Beijing Olympics. Despite years of Sunday school, Chinese language hadn’t quite clicked – until that summer. Immersed in the culture, Felicia returned home eager to learn both the language and the history. Meanwhile, Ching’s younger daughter, Fiona, found her voice during a study abroad experience in Taiwan. There, she helped PhD students with English presentations and discovered a newfound love for Chinese cuisine.

“For both of them,” Ching reflects, “those trips didn’t just teach culture—they built confidence, curiosity, and connection.”

A Global Perspective on Local Impact

As for Ching herself, recent travels to Taiwan, Shanghai, and Tokyo brought her face-to-face with something powerful: the global footprint of SchGo’s work. “I remember walking into a music store in Tokyo and seeing a product that used one of our tiny parts,” she shares. “It was surreal – this tiny thing we made had traveled further than most people ever do. It reminded me just how interconnected everything really is.”

This global lens gives Ching a unique edge in the precision engineering space. She understands not just the technical needs of SchGo’s clients, but the human side of business – the cultural nuance, the value of trust, the art of long-term partnership.

Treating Curiosity as a Superpower

Whether she’s building Lego sets, dancing at Pure Barre, or catching flights overseas, Ching carries the same mindset: Stay open. Ask questions. Let wonder lead the way. At SchGo, we see firsthand that travel fuels creativity, inspiring new solutions, stronger partnerships, and a culture of continuous growth.

“If there’s one thing travel has taught me,” she says, “it’s that clarity doesn’t always come from thinking harder. Sometimes, you find it in a new city, a new meal, or a conversation with someone whose story is completely different from yours.”
